Bratislava, 24 October 2025
The Embassy of the State of Palestine in the Slovak Republic is relieved and pleased to announce the safe arrival of four Palestinian students from Gaza, recipients of Slovak government scholarships for the academic year 2024.
For more than a year these students were prevented from leaving Gaza because of the ongoing genocide and the extremely restrictive Israeli blockade and movement bans that made travel abroad impossible. After persistent diplomatic work and close cooperation, the students have now reached safety.
The Embassy of the State of Palestine extends its sincere appreciation and thanks to H.E. Mr. Juraj Blanár, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, as well as to all officials and partners who contributed to making this possible, in particular:
H.E. Dr. Jozef Hudec, Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to the State of Palestine
H.E. Martin Kačo, Director General for Political Affairs
Ms. Alexandra Janečková, Crisis Management Department, Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs
Mr. Martin Bartoň, Department of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs
Ministry of Education, Development, Research and Youth of the Slovak Republic
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and its Embassy in Vienna
Our colleagues in the Embassy of the State of Palestine in Amman

The UNICEF team in Palestine
Matej Bel University Banská Bystrica
The Embassy also thanks all ministry officials, consular personnel, humanitarian partners, and colleagues whose discretion, professionalism, and persistent work over many months made this possible.
This case is an example of effective bilateral cooperation, in which Slovakia’s provision of educational opportunities represents a concrete investment in the future of the State of Palestine. The Embassy will continue to support the students as they begin their studies and life in Slovakia.
