On August 15, 2023, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Palestine, Her Excellency Safa Khaldi presented her credentials to the President of the Slovak Republic, Her Excellency Zuzana Čaputová, and on this occasion extended the invitation of the Palestinian President to visit the State of Palestine to the Slovak President and the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem.
At the meeting, the Slovak president reaffirmed the position of the Slovak Republic, which is in line with the position of the European Union to support a two-state solution. The Palestinian ambassador appreciated Slovakia's position in supporting a two-state solution and emphasised the necessity of ending the occupation and confirming the rights of the Palestinian people to an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital in accordance with international law.
