Her Excellency Ambassador Safa Khaldi met with His Excellency the Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár

 

on the 11th of January, 2024. This meeting follows his assumption of office and the Slovak Parliament’s vote of confidence in the newly elected government.

Ambassador Khaldi gave a comprehensive briefing on all developments related to the Israeli occupation’s campaign of genocide and war crimes against the Palestinian people in Gaza, as well as the aggression, ongoing incursions and settler terrorism in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

Madam Ambassador has also called for Slovakia to do whatever it can to help, through its role in the European Union and international corridors such as the United Nations and the Human Rights Council. Ambassador Khaldi has also called for Slovakia to support Palestinian calls for a ceasefire and to move forward on a clear and concrete political path that leads to the end of the occupation and the establishment of the State of Palestine as an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions, as well as achieving Palestine’s full membership in the United Nations.

His Excellency the Minister expressed his concern about the human losses caused by the war in the Gaza Strip, most of them women and children, and the extent of the massive destruction of infrastructure of the Gaza Strip. He stated that Slovakia would seek to support efforts to achieve a ceasefire and to provide humanitarian aid through the European Union and the United Nations. It will also support international initiatives to implement the two-state solution and achieve peace for the two peoples.
